If you are experiencing bereavement or loss, there are a number of groups who offer advice and support. This is a selection.

Help The Aged
While recognising that everyone's grief is personal to them, Help The Aged offer understanding and support through the shared, recogonisable reactions and emotions felt upon loss.

Alzheimer’s Society
If someone close to you develops dementia, you are likely to experience feelings of grief and bereavement, not only in the period after their death, but also before they die, as the illness progresses. The Alzheimer's Society website includes a helpful factsheet.

Cruse Bereavement Care
Cruse promotes the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are offered free to the bereaved. The charity also provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.

Disaster Action
The extra complications caused when death occurs suddenly in a major disaster can make coping with loss harder. Disaster Action offers support and information for the bereaved (and survivors) of major disasters whether in the UK or overseas.

Road Peace
Provides support for victims of road crashes and campaigns for justice, road safety and road danger reduction.

Marie Curie Cancer Care
Marie Curie provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes. The Marie Curie website includes a helpful page of information about bereavement.

The Still Birth and Neonatal Death Society
SANDS offers support if you lose a baby during pregnancy or after birth.

The Foundation for the Study of Sudden Infant Death
FSID is a leading UK charity working to prevent sudden deaths and promote health in babies. FSID funds research, supports bereaved families and promotes safe baby care advice.

The Child Bereavement Charity The CBC provides specialised support, information and training to all those affected when a baby or child dies, or when a child is bereaved.

The Childhood Bereavement Network
This group works to improve the support on offer to children who have lost loved ones.

Winston's Wish
Winston's Wish is the a childhood bereavement charity and the largest provider of services to bereaved children, young people and their families in the UK and offers practical support and guidance to families, professionals and anyone concerned about a grieving child.
