Claudia Swan
CLAUDIA SWAN
Claudia Swan is assistant professor of art history at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. Her research interests focus upon the relations between art and science in the Netherlands around 1600 and early modern representations of witchcraft.

Pieter BaasPIETER BAAS
Pieter Baas is scientific director of the National Herbarium of the Netherlands and professor of systematic botany at Leiden University. He has published extensively in the areas of tree biology, wood science and plant bio-diversity.

Carla Teune CARLA TEUNE
Carla Teune is curator of the Hortus Botanicus of Leiden University, one of the oldest Botanical gardens in the world. She trained as a horticulturist and has travelled widely on plant hunting expeditions and lecturing on subjects from the history of tulips in Holland to the art of Japanese gardens.

Martin Kemp MARTIN KEMP
Martin Kemp is professor of the history of art at Oxford University. Author of Leonardo da Vinci: The Marvellous Works of Man and Nature, 1981 and numerous studies of the relationships between representations in art and science. He is a regular contributor to Nature.
