If you'd like to take an interest in the history of thought further, how about sampling an Open University course?

A211 Philosophy and the Human Situation - An introduction to Philosophy, the course explores the basics of human thought, samples work from a range of philosophers across history and considers a number of philosophical questions. Rather than offering up a potted survey of philosophy, it engages in detailed discussion of parts of them and is designed to show philosophy as an active enquiry.

AXR271 Doing Philosophy - Philosophy thrives on debate and discussion, and this residential course gives you plenty of opportunity for both. You choose the subject area you're most interested in from knowledge and value, liberty and justice, or issues in contemporary aesthetics, and, working with your fellow students, follow through some of the greatest thinkers of history. This course is an excellent preparation for the more advanced philosophy courses on offer through the OU.

A further list of courses can be found in the Philosophy section on the Open University website.
