Paris mosque

A brief introduction to the Paris Mosque

The Mosque was built in the 1920s and is the oldest in France. It was built in tribute to the North African Arabs who had given military assistance during the First World War. It is still a spiritual centre for Parisian Muslims.

The architecture is Moorish and is inspired by the Alhambra in Spain. Inside the mosque can be found tea rooms, Turkish baths - available for use on alternate days by men and women - and an Islamic school. The Mosque De Paris offers an atmosphere of serenity and calm in contrast to the bustle of the city.
