Shakespeare and Company Bookshop

A brief history of the Shakespeare and Company Bookshop

Shakespeare and Company first opened in 1951. For over fifty years, the bookshop has hosted writers and organised readings by published and unpublished authors.

Shakespeare and Company has grown from a simple bookshop into a meeting place for celebrated writers and Parisians who take advantage of the regular poetry readings and the vast book collection, mainly in the English language.
