An Introduction to the Humanities (A103)
An introductory course to a range of arts subjects. It includes an introduction to history, which will enable you to distinguish the proper study of the past from mere anecdote. It also takes in the study of paintings and architecture, listening to music, reading poetry, drama and a novel, discussing philosophy and religion, and evaluating historical sources.

This short 12 week online course helps you to interpret and write about family history. It offers a guide to the principles of studying history, historical sources, interpreting evidence and selecting suitable examples. Using sources from different historical periods, you will investigate the changing nature of the family and, putting the principles of historical research into practice, write about your own family history.  
 
From Enlightenment to Romanticism c. 1780 - 1830 (A207)
This is an interdisciplinary, cultural-based course covering the period c. 1780-1830 with the focus on seven Arts disciplines.

Exploring History: Medieval to Modern 1400 - 1900 (A200)
An introduction to historical study which will teach you the techniques of professional historians. Teaching blocks focus on: France, England and Burgundy in the Fifteenth Century; The European Reformation; The Civil Wars of the British Isles c.1620-1690; Slavery and Freedom c.1650-1830; Creating Nations in the Nineteenth Century; and Nations and Imperialism c.1870-1900.
